According to Fair Isaac, the designer of the FICO credit scoring software, 11% of the American public has the highest credit scores of 800 and above. The rest of the population breaks down like this:

  • 1% have credit scores of 499 or lower.

  • 5%, 500-549.

  • 7%, 550-599.

  • 11%, 600-649.

  • 16%, 650-699

  • 20%, 700-749.

  • 29%, 749-799.
