CREDIT REPORT: Can I find out what is in my credit report?
Absolutely. Your right of access is mandated by federal and state laws. You may obtain a copy of your report by writing or calling the three CRAs. In addition, Experian and Equifax now offer online access to credit information. Ordinarily, there is a charge of $8.00 - $9.00 in most states for your credit report. The charge is $8.00 if you live in California and free if you live in Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Maine, New Jersey or Vermont.
Beginning in December 2004, consumers can get a free copy of their credit report annually. Free annual credit reports will be rolled out starting on the West coast and ending in September 2005 on the East Coast. A centralized source with a toll free number, web site, and mailing address will be established to order your free report in the near future.ADDITIONAL CREDIT REPORT RELATED FACTS
